A Pinwheel First

Isn't that orange fabulous? And don't you just love that white on white windowpane?

12-white squares and 4-orange blocks...everything needed to make a cute little 8" pinwheel from quilters cache. I have never made one of these little blocks before, but it was so simple.

You sew four 4" squares together...

Then line up the template with the seams...

...and cut.

Works really well when you don't try to take shortcuts.... *sigh* I would have made another, but I used a charm pack and I didn't have anymore orange polka dots. And I had to have those orange polka dots.

Four blocks...

...and one cute pinwheel. Don't ya love it when a plan comes together?

  1. These are really gorgeous fabrics and I do like the block you have made. I can can imagine a lovely quilt made in those orange fabrics.

  2. Hey, I really like the center of this better than the traditional pinwheel. PLUS you don't have to fuss about absolutely-perfect corner matches!!

  4. Hi Vickie! That's beautiful! Orange and white are so good togethere and that pinwheel is so great because there is not so many seams crossing in the center like in the 'normal' pinwheel. Thanks for the tutorial!
