Fussy Cut Love

Remember this block?? I had sooooo much fun making it!

Well, today I had just finished getting my backing fabric for my Zig Zag Quilt done and was back home researching quilt blocks (June is my month for my Sew Bee It VQB), when I saw this on the Quilting Bee Blocks blog!!! My block was the 5th of Erin's "Pick Five Monday"!!!  Needless to say, I started hooting and hollering!! (Actually, I was squealing like a girl, but I'm not tellin')

What fun! Thanks, Erin!! :)

Joy to you!

Wedding Gift Quilt, originally uploaded by myfullcolorlife.

I love the colors in this quilt. It now lives in Oregon. I love Amy Butler's fabrics!

WIP

The top is together! Don't get me wrong...it gave me fits! But at least my eyes were feasting on the fabric gorgeousness!

I was wondering about a border...but don't want to detract from the zig zags. hmmmm....

D's Chocolate Love

I know I have already blogged about this quilt, but I wasn't happy with the pictures I had. So thanks to my kids for taking them for me. (Wish I could have been there to hold Deacon while you took them!! )

Those animals are adorable! Ashley says, "We've been using it as Deacon's play blanket. He's been fascinated by the colors several times as he touches and fingers the animals on the quilt". That makes this Grammy happy. (Is it weird that the rhyming phrase "Grammy Happy" gives me ideas for a choral warm-up for my classes?)

I didn't have enough fabric to finish the back since I decided to make the quilt bigger than I had originally planned and this is pretty much all I had left. Mom came in while I was trying to decide how to place it, so Deacon's Great Grandma got to help 'design' his quilt, as well!

And here is Deacon's beautiful mommy being her cute, playful self! I think they have fun at their house. Wish I could babysit so mommy and daddy could go out more. *wink*

12.5 X 12.5 Inches of Fun

I had a blast today. Church rocked. Lunch was great, cause it was with friends. And I made a quilt block. One I have never made before. Of course, that isn't saying much. :D

While I was up at Dad's office building (where our sewing room is) my Mom came trucking in with Emerson (my great niece). K & J were visiting with Dad, so we girls had some fun bonding time! It was a nice break amidst the making of this block.

Why did I make this block??? I joined another Flickr Virtual Quilting Bee. This one is called "The Fussy Cut Love Bee". And these yummy fabrics came from Krista.

My favorite fussy cut is the short, squatty bird, but those greens are so satisfying.

I have to tell you, the first thing I did when I found out what kind of a block she wanted was to research what liberated meant!! LOL. It is pretty interesting! So when the fabric came, I had pretty much decided upon making the foundation of the block a wonky churn dash. Then the rest of the block just sort of built itself. This was surprisingly fun to make. Can't wait to see what Krista does with it! I am sure it will be beautiful!

I put my name, city, state and the date along one of the seams on the back. Even that was fun! :)

Now, both my Bees are done for the month. We have State Ensemble and Solo Contest this coming weekend, so that is a good thing. :)

Sew Bee It Quilt Blocks

My son says the best camera you have is the one that is with you. Well, it was my phone...again. And it was getting toward sunset when I took these pictures, so they are kinda dark. I thought about waiting until tomorrow, but then I thought again! I wanted to pack up these blocks and get them ready to go into the mail! My first 'bee' blocks for Dianah of the Sew Bee It VQB! I learned a lot making them. Dianah had great instructions!
