Bee Unique Spring Birds

Help. How do I put this wonderful top together? Here are all the blocks I have received from my bee friends.

Birds of Spring

This is a little closer picture of the blocks without any sashing.

Here are all the blocks with the new Oliver + S modern workshop fabric, Frothy Pink Textile Wave, used as sashing.

I could also add a narrow border of this fabric around each block and then sash the quilt with the AH fabric that matches the bird fabric.

  2. How about white sashing and the Oliver + S print for the border? I think the white sashing would make the blocks really stand out as individuals. I do love that Oliver + S print!

  3. You may have to put a small border around each of the blocks so that you can get them all exactly the same size and squared up. It's going to be wonderful! Its so modern and "free". Just keep playing with it and you will find the look you like.

  4. They look so amazing!! I think I may be leaning toward a double sashing too, or maybe no sashing and a double border...I'm really no good with these things. Perhaps you shouldn't listen to me :)

  5. Wow! This is so beautiful! I like the first picture best, with no sashing. This exact way you laid the blocks together is just right for the eye, really beautiful. I wouldn't touch it. Great job!

  6. I love it with out the sashing. It is busy and chaotic, which exactly suits the diversity of the blocks and the colours in the fabrics. Adding sashing looks like you are trying to tame a jungle and you lose something by trying to force order in this way. I would leave unsashed and add a border if you want to make the quilt larger.

  7. I also think no sashing! Although if you want to make the quilt bigger, the red fabric you show is really great and goes well with the blocks. Whatever you do, it will be a wonderful quilt, not least because your bee friend made you the blocks.

  9. Hi Vic!
I am in total agreement with all who said that the first picture of the quilt is perfect. I love it with no sashing! If you feel you need or want more, then put a border around it, with the red Oliver+ S!
